DAS BAND was a nine member orchestra that performed between 1927 and 1933 in Germany, France, and (once) in Moscow. Das Band was flamboyantly avant-garde, inovative, incorporated throat singing, twelve tone composition, and American jazz stylings in their music. performance, presentation and costume stylings. According to critics in 1929, DAS BAND had " a laconic approach to tempo that made each song tragic….even the drinking songs." Das Band last performed in Paris in 1933 following the disappearance of the lead singerr.
